OFFICIAL STATEMENT

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 12 o’ clock noon in Rome, Italy, the Holy See announced that the Holy Father, Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of the Most Rev. BUENAVENTURA M. FAMADICO, D.D, BISHOP OF SAN PABLO. Bishop Famadico submitted his letter of resignation following his recent hospitalization due to a serious heart ailment (Cf. Canon 401 Art. 2). The Holy See has appointed the current bishop of the Diocese of Pasig, Most. Rev. MYLO HUBERT C. VERGARA ,D.D., as APOSTOLIC ADMINISTRATOR of the Diocese of San Pablo.

We are deeply grateful to Bishop Famadico for his ten years of pastoral service to the clergy, religious, and lay faithful of the Diocese of San Pablo and pray for his healing and recovery. We warmly welcome Bishop Vergara who will pastorally govern the Diocese San Pablo until a new bishop is appointed by the Holy Father.
