Join us for the Exit Report Presentation of Balik Scientist Dr. Glenn D. Aguilar titled “Safer Ships, Clean Energy and a Boat Building Industry” on Friday, 22 March 2024 2:00PM (PST) via ZOOM. This event will be hosted by the Host Institution, Aklan State University (ASU) in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST PCIEERD).
Former Chancellor of the University of the Philippines-Visayas, Dr. Aguilar earned his Doctor of Engineering major in Naval Architecture and Engineering from the University of Tokyo. His expertise focuses on Geographic Information System (GIS) for biodiversity conservation, specifically working on species distribution modelling, hull biofouling, protected areas planning and use of drones for image acquisition and classification of landcover.
As part of his BSP engagement with ASU, he assisted in their DOST-PCIEERD funded project “Development of a Hybrid Trimaran Fast Craft Passenger Cargo Vessel using Multi-Engine and Alternative Energy Source from Ocean Waves” wherein he will be involved in developing a prototype model of a passenger-cargo vessel for inter-island transport in the country, which will provide safe, environment-friendly, and seaworthy vessels.

Intoy, participated in the Focus Group Discussion with the Regional Research, Development and Innovation Committee (RRDIC) of the Regional Development Council (RDC) Western Visayas held last April 13, 2023 at the ASU RDS Function Hall, Banga, Aklan.
