The Blessing in The Perfection of Faith

In as much as God wants to bless His children, He also wants them to be perfected in faith.

Blessings may draw us near to Him, but God wants us to be intimate with Him solely because we believe that He is gracious and merciful to love us despite our sins. In this way, when God allows the blessings be taken away, we know that it is just to test our faith and not because God doesn’t love us anymore. Our faith must be firmly founded in the truth that all the time, God is good and faithful.

And for sure, we cannot perfect our faith alone. We need God’s help. That’s why:

As our Master, He gave us commands to obey and guide us.

As our Teacher, He is generous to give wisdom to those who ask in faith (no doubting!).

As our Rescuer, whenever we fail the test, He is merciful to forgive us and bring us out of our life’s “Egypt.”

As our Comforter, He gave us His Word to show us that despite trials and failures, He is full of grace to give us rest and welcome us back into His arms.

Most of all, God is our Lover. “For He so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God sent Jesus into the world not to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

Whenever you find yourself without the “blessings” you prayed for, maybe God wants you to know something about Him other than the blessings He can give. Is He reminding you that He is Master? Teacher? Rescuer? Comforter? Lover? What is the Holy Spirit telling you?

His grace is known to be a mystery that “It meets us where we are, but it does not leave us where it found us.”

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
