Do not mock a pain you haven’t endured

It is easy to look at someone and think their struggle looks small. To wonder why they cannot just move on or get over it. To say you would handle it better if it were you. But you have never walked in their shoes. You have never felt the sharp edge of their hurt or carried the weight of their story. You do not know how long they have been fighting or how many times they have already fallen and gotten back up.

What looks like weakness to you might be the bravest thing they have ever done. What feels like a small thing to you might be breaking their heart in ways you cannot see. So hold your words. Soften your heart. Be slow to speak and quick to care. Because you do not know what it truly costs them to keep going. Do not mock a pain you haven’t endured.
