UP Occupational Therapy

A legacy of excellence spanning nearly four decades of occupational therapy education, research, and service ❤️
To Professor Maria Concepcion Cabatan—our mentor, former Dean, and unwavering guide:
Thank you for dedicating your life to the College of Allied Medical Professions. From your early days as an instructor in 1989 to your leadership as Department Chair and Dean, you have shaped the very foundation of Occupational Therapy in UP Manila. You taught us not just the theories of our profession, but the art of resilience and adaptation.
CAMP won’t be the same without you, Ma'am! Wishing you a retirement filled with joy and rest. Your legacy lives on in every student you’ve mentored. 🌻🎓
As we look back on the history of UP CAMP and the Department of Occupational Therapy, it’s impossible not to see the lasting impact of Professor Maria Concepcion C. Cabatan. For nearly four decades, she has been a steady presence—first as a student in 1985, then as a faculty member shaping generations of rehabilitation professionals since 1989.
A beloved mentor and UP Manila Outstanding Teacher (2002), she connected with students across eras, championed their well-being, and led research on student–faculty interactions and mental health. She guided the College through key transitions as Department Chair in the ’90s and early 2000s, and as Dean from 2009 to 2012. Her dedication also brought to life the OT/PT Clinic at the University Health Service—an enduring service to the community.
Her own journey embodied lifelong growth: earning her Master’s in 1995, completing her PhD in 2020, and receiving multiple One UP Professorial Chair Awards. Her research, marked by empathy and depth, amplified the voices of educators, students, and persons with disabilities—especially during the pandemic.
As she steps away from the academe, we give our heartfelt thanks. Inday, your legacy lives on in our curriculum, our faculty, and every OT you’ve inspired. Your impact will remain a cherished part of our story.

“Redirection is a blessing. So when you find yourself having to put certain dreams on hold, remember that there is a reason—and remember that you can always go back to those dreams when the time is right.”
Pagpupugay sa mga bagong Occupational Therapist ng Bayan, Para sa Bayan!
It was something they had wished for but never quite anticipated.
For Kristine Allyza Esquivel, Erika Jane Domingo, Juliana Galbizo, and Darren Moira Sta. Ana, the June 2025 Occupational Therapy Licensure Examination (OTLE) was not only a test of their knowledge; it was the payoff of years of hard work, sacrifice, and collective dedication. All four, the only examinees from the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila, College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP), not only passed — each of them placed a spot in the top 10.
