On Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:34 AM, a wellโ€‘known Filipino bug bounty hunter a respected figure and cybersecurity expert publicly shared that his inactive Instagram account received an attempted login alert.

Let that sink in.

This is someone widely regarded as a guru in cybersecurity, with strong OPSEC practices. The idea that this happened due to weak security or negligence is extremely unlikely.
So I dug deeper.

๐Ÿ” Data Breaches in the Philippines: January โ€“ August 2025 ๐Ÿ”

Since the start of 2025, several Philippine companies and institutions have fallen victim to data breaches and ransomware attacks. These incidents highlight the growing cybersecurity risks businesses face today.

Victims & Threat Actors:

Xperthair โ€“ Qilin
W.L. FOODS โ€“ Direwolf
Tuna Processors Philippines, Inc. โ€“ Nightspire
gmtaconline โ€“ Warlock (data resold, not directly leaked by victims)
Majesty โ€“ Incransom
Palawan Coop Hospital โ€“ Qilin
Eight8Ate Holdings, Inc. โ€“ Hunters
Fong Shann Printing Philippines โ€“ Arcusmedia
JPark Island Resort (jparkislandresort.com) โ€“ Stormous

Fote.com โ€“ Clop
51Talk (51talk.com) โ€“ Lockbit3
AB Capital (abcapital.com.ph) โ€“ Lockbit3
EVAS Group โ€“ Blacklock

โš ๏ธ Each breach risks exposing sensitive financial, operational, and personal data โ€” potentially affecting not only businesses but also employees, customers, and the wider public.

Why this matters:

- Cybercriminal groups are actively targeting Philippine organizations, from local businesses to national corporations.
- Stolen data may be sold, leaked, or exploited, damaging reputations and enabling fraud.
- The number of affected companies keeps growing โ€” and itโ€™s only August.

Our hope: Before September arrives, we donโ€™t want this list to grow any longer.

โœ… Recommendations for businesses and institutions:

- Regularly update and patch systems.
- Train staff on phishing and social engineering risks.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments to identify weak points.
- Use strong backup strategies and encryption.
- Partner with trusted cybersecurity and OSINT professionals to detect threats early.

๐Ÿ’ก At SilentBytes Technology, we help protect organizations by:

Assessing vulnerabilities
Monitoring for data leaks
Removing unwanted online exposure
Enhancing overall security posture

Together, we can keep the Philippine digital space safer.
