Life Adventure
There’s a line from a song (“Heal the World” by Michael Jackson) that has been echoing in my heart lately:
“Make it a better place for you and for me…”
It sounds so gentle, almost fragile, against the noise of headlines filled with strikes, retaliation, and power plays. Nations speak in the language of strength. But the consequences are always written in the language of loss.
Behind every conflict are lives that once began in love.
It takes a woman nine months to carry a child, through discomfort, fear, sacrifice, protecting a tiny heartbeat she hasn’t even met yet. It takes years of sleepless nights, hard work, and quiet prayers to raise that child. Dreams are carefully built: a future career, a family of their own, simple mornings filled with peace.
And yet, in a single moment, everything can change.
A child is never just a number.
A soldier is never just a statistic.
Every life was once someone’s miracle.
No mother carries her baby imagining sirens instead of lullabies. No parent raises a son or daughter hoping they’ll become breaking news. And no young person grows up dreaming of being wounded, displaced, or buried before truly living.
Before politics, there was a heartbeat.
Before conflict, there was a cradle.
Before borders, there was a family.
We may not control global decisions. But we can choose not to normalize hatred. We can choose empathy when anger feels louder. We can remember that beyond flags and differences, a mother’s tears look the same everywhere.
Healing the world may sound idealistic. But maybe what’s truly unrealistic is believing we can keep breaking it without breaking ourselves too.
And maybe the bravest thing we can choose right now is humanity.
