After years of talk about superhero fatigue, Gen Z is flipping the script. New data from ComicHub and retailers at New York Comic Con reveal that comic book sales have surged by nearly 27% in 2025, with a wave of young readers, mostly between 15 and 24, flooding comic shops again. It’s the biggest boost the industry has seen in years, and it’s being credited to Gen Z’s growing passion for superheroes.
A huge part of this revival comes from Marvel and DC’s smart move to reset their universes with the new Ultimate and Absolute lines. These reboots wipe away confusing backstories and give fans fresh, easy entry points to start reading without diving through decades of history. The result? Younger audiences who once felt lost are now hooked, and longtime readers are returning too.
What’s really striking is that this comeback isn’t happening on movie screens, it’s happening in comic stores. Gen Z isn’t just watching superheroes anymore; they’re reading them, collecting them, and keeping the culture alive. Hollywood may have created the spectacle, but this new generation is bringing the heart of superhero storytelling back to life.
