Koi Design Studio

Located on a sloped site in the prestigious Maria Luisa Subdivision in Cebu City, we reconfigured the lower ground floor of this two-story residence to maximize its connection with nature and the surrounding forest.

The main entrance to the open-plan kitchen and dining area is connected by a central staircase which originally led you to a solid concrete wall, blocking all views to the outside. By removing this central barrier and wrapping the entire perimeter in floor-to-ceiling glass, the design establishes a new visual axis, and a lush, green backdrop is now instantly revealed the moment you descend into the space.

The interior palette utilizes natural materials to complement the forest setting. Walnut cabinetry, a rugged stone feature wall, and teak wood ceilings are organized around a central marble finish kitchen island. Now, the design successfully blurs boundaries between inside and outside, creating a warm and natural atmosphere all throughout.
