Why does the Catholic Church oppose IVF? 🤔

The Church teaches that every human life is sacred from the moment of conception. While the desire to have a child is deeply good and understandable, not every method of achieving pregnancy respects the full dignity of human life and marriage.

IVF separates procreation from the marital act, often results in the freezing or destruction of embryos, and may involve third parties outside the marriage bond. Because each embryo is already a human person, the Church calls us to protect their dignity from the very beginning.

The Church’s “no” to IVF is not a rejection of couples who struggle with infertility. It is a call to uphold both the dignity of marriage and the dignity of every human life.

Days before Valentine’s Day, we’re sharing this fact: Only two countries in the world prohibit divorce — Vatican City and the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the Philippines allows annulment, which is distinct from divorce and is generally expensive and time-consuming to obtain.
