MANILA: Silverlens is pleased to announce small vast things, a solo exhibition by Ayka Go, on view from July 25 to August 22, 2026.

Ayka Go departs from the creased, folded, and worn paper forms that have long defined her practice, turning instead to the natural world as a lens through which to contemplate transformation. During a period of relative quietude in 2025, she cultivated a garden at her studio, where close observation of butterflies, insects, and seasonal change deepened her awareness of cycles of growth, decay, and renewal.

Butterfly wings became a particular source of fascination. Viewed under a microscope, their intricate structures revealed that many of their vivid colors are effects of light, a phenomenon known as structural color. This discovery resonated with Ayka’s understanding of painting as a process in which layers, labor, and transformation often remain unseen.

Silverlens is thrilled to congratulate Stephanie Syjuco, who has been named the 2026 Robert Gardner Fellow in Photography by Harvard University’s Peabody Museum.

The prestigious award will fund three years of research and production for Inherent Vice (Deeper Cuts), a multi-year project expanding on her 2024 solo show first exhibited at Silverlens Manila. Through this new phase, Syjuco will photograph contemporary heritage conservation labs and decaying 20th-century political records in the Philippines to explore historical trauma, post-colonial identity, and the critical need for memory-keeping.

TAICHUNG: Yee I-Lann is featured in the thematic group exhibition TANAHAIR: Navigating Asianness from Malaysia at the Asia University Museum of Modern Art, on view from 1 July to 1 November 2026.

Launching the museum’s new annual Summer Camp series, the exhibition serves as an ongoing exploration of “Asia-ness” and “Well-being” by positioning Malaysia as its first point of departure. Deriving its title from the Malay words tanah (land) and air (water) to evoke “homeland,” the presentation brings together contemporary artists, architects, and researchers to dismantle singular definitions of identity. Through works built upon years of field research and regional collaboration, the exhibition examines pressing questions of migration, memory, environmental sustainability, and cultural exchange to map the complex, evolving network of shared human and ecological histories.
