“Courage is not the absence of Fear, but Action in the face of Fear.”
- Nelson Mandela

Dear Team Rayomar,

Firstly, I wish to thank all our team members who have been ensuring the continuity of our business these last 8 weeks. Those who have braved the frontlines, and those who have come to their offices daily. Those who have worked long hours from home as well as those who have had to stay overnight at their workplace - away from their loved ones. Those who have kept serving our loyal customers, and those who have gone the extra mile to establish new revenue streams to acquire new clients. And we should not forget those who, for various reasons, have had to take leaves without pay. Your sacrifices are the reason we all still have our jobs today. And I salute you on behalf of the entire Team Rayomar.

As we transition to the ‘Recovery’ phase of this battle, and try to normalize our operations, I am aware of the apprehension and concern that many of you may have. It is perfectly fine to be worried and fearful; that’s what keeps us alert. But don’t let your fear paralyze you. We do not face our fears blindly, but armed with the equipment and experiences provided by medical science. It is during these times of adversity that we need to have disciplined action. By wearing a mask and protective gear, keeping physical distance, regular washing & cleaning, and being health conscious, we can beat this pandemic. We need to take personal responsibility for the safety of our colleagues by keeping ourselves safe. Please follow the guidelines provided by Admin & HR. As we head back to work our #1 Goal should be that no team member and their family gets sick.

Undoubtedly there will be some very tough months ahead, for us and our companies. We will have to do things differently and experience risks we are not accustomed to. But having seen Team Rayomar in action these last months I am convinced that we will not only survive this crisis but come out of it stronger and better. Not by being reckless or fearless, but by being disciplined and courageous.

Let us inspire each other and get through this adversity together. See you soon.

“Battered but Unbowed”

Dear Team Rayomar,

I take this opportunity to report to you on how our group has fared since the start of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). Through the implementation of various alternative work arrangements, and the heroic commitment of our frontline and mission critical team members, we have been able to serve our valued clients that have remained open and operating. What in normal times would be considered as regular course of operations - booking, customs clearance, delivery, billing, collection, sales, and even payroll, became very challenging work in view of the various limitations and changing restrictions of this ECQ environment. I salute all our team members throughout the group for your dedication and courage to face these difficult circumstances. This is no doubt a result of team effort, and I recognize the role of our support teams at Finance, HR, Admin, Legal, Audit, Marketing, Business Dev., and IT, in putting the support structure together to be able to get our work done.

These past weeks have been a period of confusion and adjustments, and I thank you for being flexible and understanding. But as we enter the 3rd week of the ECQ we need to shift gears to normalise and stabilise our operations. This ‘new normal’ means that we may need to operate at reduced capacity and with new untested processes. In some cases we will have to cease providing services and perhaps quickly adapt to provide new (required) services requested by our clients. We may be asked to do jobs that are not our normal function nor responsibility. So I request that you embrace these organizational changes for the benefit of our clients and your colleagues.

I would like to end by sharing with you a realization that recently came to me. As you know, nothing like this has happened in our lifetime. It is uncharted territory. And so I believed that nothing could have prepared us for what to expect, how to identify the “correct” strategy, or how to come up with the “right” decisions. But then it suddenly dawned on me that our teams HAVE CONTINUOUSLY BEEN PREPARING FOR THIS CHALLENGE. Through our good governance programs and pursuit of sound financial practices. Through our regular team meetings and strategic planning sessions. Through our pursuit of excellence by providing continuous learning programs and investing in modern systems and IT infrastructure. Through our efforts to find, get and keep the best people, and form strong bonds of teamwork. Through the enhancement of our brand and setting high quality standards. All of these actions matter! And have helped prepare us for this extraordinary event. What we need to do now is believe in ourselves, in our preparation, and in our leadership teams. Individually we need to step up to the task ahead - but always trusting that He will never forsake us or leave our side, even in the most difficult times. As we enter the 3rd week of this battle together, we may be partly battered but we are definitely unbowed. And I am now even more confident that together, we will win.

Never before have I been more proud to be part of this Team!

Mabuhay Team Rayomar!

Dear Team Rayomar,

Tonight Pres. Duterte announced the Enhanced Community Quarantine that now encompasses the entire island of Luzon. While we are awaiting specific guidelines It is clear that the government is suspending work from Mar. 17 to April 12 for most businesses in an effort to keep employees at home and mitigate the spread of the Covid19 virus. As good corporate citizens the Rayomar Group wishes to comply with this directive, and we will strive to organize work schemes which uphold the health & safety of our staff while maintaining the most critical services that we need to provide to our valuable customers. These alternative work arrangements may include the establishment of Remote Offices, Work From Home, Temporary Lodging, and Assisted Commuting schemes, among others. As such, some of our team members, specially those involved in cargo logistics and related functions, will be able to continue providing this important service which is the lifeblood of the economy. Please coordinate closely with your team heads to be able to put these measures in place as soon as possible, and always with your health & safety in mind.

It is in challenging times such as these that the true spirit of an organization manifests itself. And I am confident that Team Rayomar has the resolve and creativity to sail through these difficulties - together!

Thank you,

Monchu Garcia
President
