Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute - SSC

The late Assemblyman Teodoro Palma Gil filed Parliamentary Bill No. 1642 and on November 15, 1982 Batas Pambansa Bilang 298 was signed by then late Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos converting Lupon Municipal High School to Lupon School of Fisheries. In 1992 the school started offering post-secondary courses in Diploma in Fishery Technology major in Aquaculture and Fish Processing. With the passage of RA 7796 otherwise known as TESDA Law in 1994 the school was officially transferred to TESDA in March 1998. Lupon School of Fisheries changed its name by virtue of R. No. 11209, an act changing the name of Lupon School of Fisheries into Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (DOPI). This was signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte on February 14, 2019. The change of name was authored by Cong. Joel Mayo Z. Almario with House Bill No. 6724 and introduced by Sen. Joel Villanueva to the senate with Senate Bill No. 1767.
