Refresher Course on In**ed Rice Seed Production & Certification for Seed Growers

The DA–Bureau of Plant Industry, through the National Seed Quality Control Services (NSQCS) Region 6, conducted a Refresher Course on In**ed Rice Seed Production and Certification for Seed Growers on November 26–28, 2025 at the BPI-NSQCS R6 Conference Hall, WESVIARC, Hamungaya, Buntatala, Jaro, Iloilo City.

The three-day activity brought together seed growers from across Western Visayas to strengthen their technical understanding of in**ed rice seed production. The refresher course focused on essential topics such as field preparation, crop and pest management, rouging techniques, varietal purity maintenance, and the updated procedures in seed field inspection and certification.

Resource persons provided detailed discussions and practical guidance, emphasizing the importance of adhering to certification standards to ensure the availability of high-quality seeds for farmers in the region. Participants also shared their on-ground experiences, making the sessions more interactive and relevant to real production challenges.

Through this refresher course, seed growers renewed their commitment to producing reliable and high-purity in**ed rice seeds. The activity served as a reminder that continuous learning is vital in sustaining quality seed production and strengthening the rice industry in Western Visayas.
