Families Are Central to God’s Plan
Families are not an accident of mortality they are a sacred and eternal part of our Heavenly Father’s divine plan. From the beginning, God ordained that His children would come to earth within families, where love is nurtured, faith is strengthened, and eternal truths are taught. In the home, we learn to serve, forgive, sacrifice, and grow closer to Jesus Christ.
Through the restored gospel, we understand that family relationships can continue beyond this life. Sacred temple ordinances make it possible for husbands and wives, parents and children to be sealed together for eternity. As we center our homes on Christ through prayer, scripture study, and acts of kindness we invite peace and unity that withstand the challenges of the world.
In a time when the importance of the family is often questioned, we stand as witnesses that strong families build strong communities and a stronger Church. Every effort we make to love, support, and uplift our family members brings us closer to God and helps fulfill His eternal purposes.
Let us cherish our families, strengthen our homes, and strive to create environments where the Spirit can dwell. As taught in The Family: A Proclamation to the World, “the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.”
May we honor this divine truth by loving more deeply, serving more faithfully, and leading our families closer to Christ each day.

At the conclusion of general conference on Easter morning April 5, 2026, President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints emphasized that belief in a literal and universal resurrection shapes how individuals live with love now and anticipate joyful reunions in the life to come. Echoing earlier teachings from President Russell M. Nelson, he called on members to follow Jesus Christ by loving others, even when that love is not returned. President Oaks urged disciples to abandon harsh and hurtful communication, stressing that peacemaking can transform relationships and society. The message reinforced unity, compassion, and Christlike conduct as central themes of the conference.
