Matthew 27:59-60: Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.

Why is it called Maundy Thursday?

Maundy Thursday is called that because the word "maundy" comes from the Latin word "mandatum," meaning "command" or "instruction."

It refers to Jesus' command at the Last Supper to "Love one another as I have loved you," as recorded in John 13:34. This verse is a key teaching from Jesus, highlighting that love for others is the defining characteristic of a Christian's life and a way for the world to recognize them as followers of Christ.

This Thursday commemorates the Last Supper and the washing of the feet of the disciples, also known as the "Maundy," further reinforcing the commandment of love and service.
