Sebas Explores

Day 17 of my motorbike tour around the Philippines. I left Iloilo and followed the coast north, stopping whenever the coastline looked interesting. After passing through two gates, I found myself inside an old quiet beach resort overlooking the ocean. The owner seemed surprised to see me there, but kindly let me camp for the night. I set up my tent, went for a swim, and got photobombed by a fish.

Human ko makalabay sa duha ka gate, nakaabot ko sa usa ka hilom ug karaan nga beach resort nga nagtan-aw sa dagat. Nakurat gamay ang tag-iya sa akong pag-abot pero gitugotan gihapon ko niya nga mag-camp didto sa gabii. Nagtukod ko ug tent, naligo sa dagat, ug na-photobomb pa gyud ko sa usa ka isda.

On the ferry from Bacolod to Iloilo City, the “captain” barked at me 😅
Turns out… it was just a dog. I sat back and enjoyed the ride. Later, he came back to say sorry 🐶

Diay to iro ra. Nilingkod ko ug nag-enjoy sa byahe. Nibalik pa siya para mo-sorry 🐶

I found a spa in the province. Two carabao were enjoying a mud bath on a hot day. One of them walked over… like it was inviting me in 😄

May nakita akong spa sa probinsya. Dalawang kalabaw ang nag-eenjoy sa putik sa mainit na araw. Lumapit pa ang isa… parang inaanyayahan ako 😄

From the reefs of Dauin to the mountains above… ending the day with a sunset over the rice fields.

Day 13 of my motorbike tour around the Philippines 🇵🇭
Today I explored Dumaguete City — a growing coastal city with a laid-back vibe. Less polluted than other places I’ve been, and a perfect base to explore what’s around it. Definitely a place that grows on you.

Karong adlawa gi-explore nako ang Dumaguete City — usa ka nagatubo nga siyudad nga chill kaayo ang vibe. Mas limpyo kumpara sa uban lugar, ug nindot kaayo nga base para mag-explore sa palibot. Lugar nga maganahan gyud ka.

Stopped for a free dive and decided to camp at this resort. No guests, just coconuts, goats and the sound of waves.
Nice coral and alot of fishes.

Day 12 of my motorbike tour around the Philippines 🇵🇭
Leaving Moalboal, I rode south toward Bato Port—but the ocean pulled me in. Quick stop, mask on, and a swim with the fish 🐟
Then on to the port and across to Dumaguete—just in time for a sunset behind a volcanic cloud.

Gikan Moalboal, ni ride ko paingon Bato Port—pero dili malikayan ang dagat. Nihunong ko, nagsuot og mask, ug naglangoy kuyog sa mga isda 🐟
Dayon padulong sa port ug tabok pa-Dumaguete—sakto gyud sa sunset nga naa sa likod sa volcanic cloud.

Day 11 of my motorbike tour around the Philippines 🇵🇭
Stopped in Moalboal and ended up swimming with turtles and a massive sardine run… felt like I was part of the ocean for a minute.
Didn’t expect this to be one of the wildest experiences of the trip.

Huminto ako sa Moalboal at nakalangoy kasama ang mga pawikan at napakalaking sardine run… parang naging bahagi ako ng dagat sandali.
Hindi ko in-expect na isa ito sa pinakaastig na experience sa biyahe ko.

Day 10 of my motorbike tour around the Philippines 🇵🇭
Left the east coast of Cebu and climbed straight into the mountains… not fully trusting Google Maps 😅
Rough roads, steep climbs, and running low on gas at the top.
No choice but to coast all the way down… hoping I’d make it.
Made it to Moalboal just in time for the night.
Sometimes the best routes are the ones you’re not sure about.

Gikan ko sa silangang baybayon sa Cebu unya nisaka ko paingon sa kabukiran… medyo dili na gyud ko mosalig sa Google Maps 😅
Lubak-lubak nga dalan, tarik nga saka, ug hapit na mahutdan og gasolina sa taas.
Walay choice kundi mag-coast paubos… naglaum nga makaabot ra gyud ko.
Nakaabot ra ko sa Moalboal sakto sa gabii.
Usahay, ang pinakanindot nga ruta mao tong dili ka sigurado.

Day 9 of my motorbike tour around the Philippines.
Hiked through the Chocolate Hills, then followed a river road all the way to the coast.
Made a few puppy friends along the way before catching the ferry back to Cebu Island.

Nakigduwa pud ko sa mga itoy sa dalan, dayon nibalik ko sa Cebu Island pinaagi sa ferry.
