"Sayap ti Umili" was crafted as a tribute for the dedication and harmony among Ilagueño farmers; forging paths for their families under the guiding mantra of "Sulong Ilagan", which kept Ilagueños' heart ablaze in achieving a resilient and thriving community.
The costume also pays homage to the city's traditional agrarian landscape—focusing on Ilocano staples like palay, cassava, and, most importantly, corn, as well as showcasing the city's historical and cultural landmarks.
This attire serves as a visual tapestry capturing the Corn Capital's inherent beauty, unique identity, and the profound essence of its people and cultural legacy.
