โTraining towards holistic developmentโ, disclosed TTM Jilson Vallejera, ALT, Camp Coordinator, Administration when asked of the aim of the 8 training modules during the 1st Negros Occidental Council Advancement Camporee at Camp Himaya, Sto. Binging, Brgy. III, Himamaylan City, March 31.
Brought with endurance and competence, Sub-camps 1-4 namely Almaciga, Kalantas, Lauan, and Udling, immersed themselves towards Emergency Preparedness, Messenger of Peace and Inter-faith, Crossroads of cultures, Conquer Tree Park (Conquer Bingig Valley Challenge; Monkey Bridge and Irrigated Flume) , Orienteering Literacy and Numeracy, Outdoor Ethics, Solid Waste Management and Go GREEN.
According to the Negros Occidental Council Staff, around 2, 328 scouts embarked in the series of obstacle course, supervised by around 530 adult leaders; and sub-camps 1-4 directors, TTM Nestor M. Preston, Jr., CML, TTM Ben Dela Rosa, LT, TTM Bonard SUPE, LT, TTM Roquito Garcia, ALT/CMT.
Negros Occidental Council (NOC) and Schools Division of Himamaylan City spearheaded by SDS Gladys Amylaine D. Sales, CESO VI, Division Scout Commissioner crafted the 8 training modules to integrate literacy, numeracy, 21st century skills and social sciences.
The completion of modules is set to be on April 2, Sunday.

FEATURE.
To where does your compass lead you around Camp Himaya? What places have you been so far? Did you know that the Literacy and Numeracy (LitNUm) booth is a place worthy of visit?
LitNum booth opens its way to invite scouts with a gallery walk showcasing โMaragtas sang Himamaylanโ. Next, in the main venue are arrays of reading materials from big books to hanging, printed stories, a reading pantry, and word games. Serving as a side fence of the enclosure is a long table holding exciting and challenging Mathematical games such as Tower of Hanoi, Rubikโs Cube, chess, and Jenga. Meanwhile, on the outer skirt of the booth are arrangements of Sudoku puzzles and DaMath boards, and the most patronized Chips on a Board game. A colorful mat was even laid on the grass floor with reading collections along with cozy chairs.
Directed eastward from the main entrance is this spectacular booth offering bits and pieces of everything educational. Sway your compass, learn, and own your prize!

Sub-camps Almaciga, Kamagong, Lawaan, and Udling commenced their learning of the camporeeโs training modules: Emergency Preparedness, Messenger of Peace and Inter-faith, Crossroads of Cultures, Conquer Tree Park, Orienteering Literacy and Numeracy, Outdoor Ethics, Solid Waste Management, and Go GREEN, today, March 30, at Camp Himaya.
In the morning, sub-camp Almaciga discussed Emergency Preparedness, sub-camp Kamagong talked about Messenger of Peace and Inter-Faith, sub-camp Lawaan tackled Crossroads of Culture, and sub-camp Udling took Conquer Tree Park (Challenge Valley).
In the afternoon, the four sub-camps were assigned new modules: Almaciga had Orienteering Literacy and Numeracy; Kamagong, Outdoor Ethics: Leave no Trace; Lawaan, Solid Waste Management; and Udling, Go GREEN.
Emergency Preparedness focused on observing precautions, and responding during and after emergencies; Messenger of Peace and Inter-Faith on reflecting about oneโs relationship with God; Crossroads of Culture on learning history, traditional arts, dances and cuisine of different cities and municipalities blended with essay writing; Conquer Tree Park on facing obstacles like blindfolded elephant walking, net wall crossing, and rope bridge crossing; Orienteering Literacy and Numeracy on using literacy and numeracy in real-life situations.
Outdoor Ethics: Leave No Trace, Solid Waste Management, and Go GREEN taught scouts to preserve the environment through sharing outdoor behavior principles, waste collection, segregation and recycling, and tree planting and growing respectively.
The sub-camps simultaneously joined the varied activities in a rotation scheme and will continue until tomorrow March 31, 2023 until all sub-camps finish all eight modules.
