Today, we celebrate the graduation of our incredible G12 Earth Club officers and advocates! As they transition from the halls of Cor Jesu College, they carry forward the leadership, environmental stewardship, and unwavering passion honed through years of dedication to our planet and our community.

Gathered at the Davao del Sur Coliseum, we recognize the culmination of years of hard work. From leading sustainability initiatives to advocating climate action, these student leaders have proven that the youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the change-makers of today. Their commitment to environmental equity and grassroots organizing has prepared them for the exciting challenges of building a greener, more sustainable world.

We wish them profound success in their future endeavors as they embark on journeys to protect our ecosystems, inspire communities, and shape a more resilient future!

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝘆𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 🇵🇭🌳

Hiya Earthlings🌱! Today we introduce to you the 𝑷𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒑𝒖𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒔 or most commonly known as the narra tree🍁. The narra tree is one of the most common trees found in different places in Southeast Asia. The narra tree is celebrated as the Philippine's national tree, symbolizing strength and resilience. ✊🏻🌟

Its flowering season is one of nature’s most dramatic "𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤-𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥-𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬-𝐢𝐭" events. The tree produces fragrant, seasonal, bright yellow flowers🌼, covering the canopy in gold. In the Philippines, this typically occurs during the transition into the dry season and peaks through the summer months. The primary blooming period usually falls between February and May. In many regions, the most vibrant displays occur in March and April, coinciding with the hottest part of the year.🌞☁️

This tree is also used to make furniture as it is durable, resistant to termites, and possesses a pleasant cedar-like fragrance🪵🪓. When cut, a dark red sap called the 𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘯'𝘴 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥🩸, used historically in traditional medicine💊. It's also perfect for nesting sites for various birds🪹🐦.

We would also like to recognize the people at the back of the picture and congratulate them as they graduate in 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 in 𝐂𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞🎉💗. Today, we celebrate the importance of protecting the plants that sustain life on Earth. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲—𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝟴𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘁 and 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝟵𝟴% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘅𝘆𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲. 🍃

💡𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰? Plant pests and diseases destroy up to 40% of global crops every year, affecting food security, biodiversity, and livelihoods worldwide. 🌍 That’s why the 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 reminds us that caring for plants also means caring for people and the planet.

🤔 𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭: Plants can “communicate” with each other! Some plants release chemical signals into the air to warn nearby plants about insect attacks, helping them prepare their defenses. 🌿

As environmental stewards, may we continue to 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for a greener and healthier future. Because 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝘄𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. 💚

𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, the Environmental Advocates for Restoration and Transformation Harmony (EARTH) Club successfully held the 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of our mangrove tree-growing activity for 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔! This culminating milestone took place at our 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐀, fueled by the incredible synergy between the SHS Association of Clubs and Organizations, the Senior Student Council, and our supportive Faculty. 🫂 🤝

We are beyond proud to announce that we have hit our target: 1,000 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 are now rooted within the Cor Jesu College, Inc. adopted areas! 🎯 Reaching this goal before the school year ends is a powerful testament to our collective strength and our commitment to healing the Earth.

As we close this chapter, we are already looking ahead with purpose. The mission continues into the next school year—We are already preparing to plant 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 1,000 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨, continuing the legacy of restoration we’ve built together at our new site. 🌳

Our work today is an investment in a sustainable future. By staying rooted in our advocacy, we ensure that our coastal ecosystems remain vibrant and protected for years to come. 🌊🌿

On this day, we recognize the importance of observing and knowing a bird's life.🪶🌷 Professional scientists and even dedicated individuals participate on this activity to identify when will the birds migrate to another location, their state of condition, and their conservation.🔬📸

This celebration is an important notice to all people that without the observance of these birds, we wouldn't have known their primary functions and health conditions. ✉️📌

Behind every enduring heritage home is a silent, resilient foundation—the 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗲 (𝙑𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙭 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙖), 𝗮 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 that redefines the strength of hardwood💪. Known locally as 𝘁𝘂𝗴𝗮𝘀 or 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻 this tree dominates the landscape at heights of up to 30 meters, offering a lush crown that provides sanctuary from the heat☀️. It is a tree 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, surviving 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 that would snap lesser species—a true testament to 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢. Every May 2, we recognize one of the oceans most valuable resources—the tuna. It is not just food on our tables; it is a vital part of our oceans and global livelihood. What may seem like an ordinary fish plays an extraordinary role in sustaining ecosystems, supporting communities, and feeding millions around the world. 💙

This day is a call to protect what sustains us. 🌍✨
It calls us to protect marine life by supporting sustainable fishing and making mindful choices as consumers. From preserving ocean balance, to ensuring future generations can still benefit from its resources, every action counts. 🌱🐟

Today is not just about appreciation, but dedication.

When the sun goes down, they come out. We introduce to you the 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙖 𝙢𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙨, a fascinating moth species found across the forests of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. 🌎

𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙖 𝙢𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙨 is a true master of earthy tones. With a wingspan reaching around 70-80mm, these moths sport intricate purplish-brown wings adorned with swirling, eye-like patterns and delicate lines. This complex design serves as the perfect camouflage, allowing them to disappear against tree bark or dry leaves while they rest in dark, sheltered places during the day.

As creatures of the shadows, they remain hidden until the stars emerge, unfolding their incredible patterned wings to navigate through dense vegetation with ease. Primarily nocturnal, they play a vital role in our local ecosystem under the cover of darkness. 🌑✨
