Exaltation of the Holy Cross
September 14

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, celebrated every year on September 14, recalls three historical events: the finding of the True Cross by Saint Helena, the mother of the emperor Constantine; the dedication of churches built by Constantine on the site of the Holy Sepulchre and Mount Calvary; and the restoration of the True Cross to Jerusalem by the emperor Heraclius II. But in a deeper sense, the feast also celebrates the Holy Cross as the instrument of our salvation. This instrument of torture, designed to degrade the worst of criminals, became the life-giving tree that reversed Adam's Original Sin when he ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden.

How's everyone doing? Are we still living the theme's "Stand firm" as we stand in our faith? It's been a while since we experienced the Parish Youth Festival 2023, which took place from August 12-13. Let's reminisce about the wonderful events of last month.

The festival kicked off with a heart-warming Eucharistic Celebration, welcoming us all to the Parish Youth Festival 2023. With nearly 300 enthusiastic delegates, the youth of SILP-Digos were all set to stand together, ready to share their unique gifts and talents.

Rain or shine, the delegates came together to create vibrant and lively zones and groups, setting the stage for this year's festival with pure enjoyment and teamwork on the first day. Amidst cheers and spirited shouts, the delegates proudly represented their respective zones to the entire youth community of SILP-Digos, introducing everyone to what their zones had in store for this exciting event.
