𝑯𝒂𝒊𝒍, 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖 (Luke 1:28).

On this day, the Church rejoices in the Nativity of the Blessed Mother, through whom our Savior, Jesus Christ, came into the world. We entrust ourselves to her maternal care, asking her intercession that we may walk faithfully with her Son in love and holiness.

May you guide us Mama Mary and lead us closer to your Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐜𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 warmly invites the entire university community to take part in the observance of 𝐀𝐬𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, which marks the beginning of the 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐭.

This sacred celebration ushers in a time of prayer, reflection, fasting, and spiritual renewal as we prepare our hearts for the Resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. During this season, we are called to grow closer to God through repentance, self-discipline, acts of charity, and deeper reflection on Sacred Scripture.

As a sign of humility and conversion, the faithful are invited to receive the 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬, during which the priest will say:

“𝘙𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯,”

This solemn ritual reminds us of our human frailty and our need for God’s grace as we journey toward spiritual renewal.

The Church observes the following during Lent:
- 𝐀𝐬𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 – days of fasting and abstinence
- 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐭 – days of abstinence
- The faithful are also encouraged to practice voluntary acts of self-denial, charity, and prayer

Students, faculty members, staff, and partners are encouraged to participate in this meaningful observance. Your presence will enrich our shared moment of prayer, reflection, and unity as one academic and faith community.

Let us gather with humble hearts—strengthened in faith, renewed in spirit, and inspired to walk the path of conversion and grace this Lenten season.
