📍Destination: Siquijor Island, Philippines – The Island of Whispering Magic

Often called the “Island of Fire” for its glowing sunsets and mystical folklore, Siquijor is a quiet escape for the tired heart.

✨ Why go?
Because time slows here. The beaches are empty enough to hear your own thoughts. The waterfalls—like Cambugahay—are wrapped in vines, and the water is so blue it doesn’t seem real. You can swing into the water, or just sit on the rocks with your feet in the cool stream and listen to the birds argue about nothing.

🌙 What to do?
• Visit a 400-year-old Balete tree with natural spring water around it—locals say it’s magical.
• Ride a motorbike around the whole island in a few hours. No plans needed, just follow the breeze.
• Get a traditional healing massage from a local mananambal. (They don’t just soothe muscles—sometimes they soothe old sadness too.)
• Catch the sunset at Paliton Beach, where the sky melts into gold and coral pink.

🧡 The vibe:
Peaceful. Slightly mysterious. Like the island is holding secrets but smiling kindly at you. It’s for solo travelers who want to disappear for a while—and come back softer.

The people alive today might be the last generation to see fireflies.

Fireflies—those magical insects that light up summer nights—are vanishing, and scientists say we could be the last generation to witness their glowing courtship displays.

Once common in backyards and meadows, firefly populations are rapidly declining across the globe due to habitat destruction, pesticide use, light pollution, and climate change.

These beetles rely on moist environments and dark skies to thrive, but modern urbanization, farming practices, and rising global temperatures are erasing the conditions they need to survive and reproduce.

Their fading presence signals a deeper ecological crisis.

Fireflies play a crucial role in ecosystems, especially as predators of pests and indicators of environmental health.

Nature is my place of refuge, my sanctuary, and my place for inspiration.

Leaving you this photo, a glimpse of the world that we must protect and save from destruction. Once our natural splendor is destroyed, it can never be recaptured. 🌿
