Smooth Friction is a Cebu-based progressive band known for blending jazz, rock, and Visayan influences into a sound that’s proudly underground and proudly unique. With concept albums spanning genres from jazz to pop, alternative rock to dirty blues, novelty to heavy metal, EDM to punk, and their alter-ego project Ismut Priksyun, Smooth Friction has become one of the Philippines’ most versatile and pioneering bands championing the independent/DIY spirit. By 2003, the song 'Solid ug Lawas' was a surprise hit from 'D 2nd Coming' album that contributed to the rise of Bisrock music and subculture on the following years. Other notable songs by SF are Never Let You Go, The V Song, Kanimo, Shagit, Botelya (El Salida), Evul, Panyero, and many others from their 100+ original songs to date on all online streaming platforms. Some tracks were also featured on one Filipino major movie, two Independent films, and a motorsport documentary abroad. This prolific and long running band has the same original lineup since they started making music in 2000 till today.
