COVERAGE OF CPA BOARD EXAMINATIONS TO INCLUDE OLD AND NEW PROVISIONS

The Board of Accountancy has decided that the CPA Examinations shall cover the new and old provisions of certain laws and standards for the October 2018 CPA Licensure Examinations and thereafter. These include the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion or TRAIN Law, PFRS 9 on" "Financial instruments," and PFRS 15 on "Revenue from Contracts with Customers."

Wit this policy, those taking the Board examinations starting October 2018, should be knowledgeable on the new as well as theold provisions of the three aforementioned measures since questions on these will be given in the appropriate subjects, ie. Taxation and Advanced Financilal Reporting. The questions will specify what measure (old nor new) shall be considered for such.

"The reason for requiring knowledge of examinees on these is that the passers of the CPA examinations will be encountering situations that require knowledge thereof when they begin their careers as CPAs in the future," explained BoA Chairman Joel Tan-Torres.

This policy of the examination coverage of the the old and new provisions of such measures will continue until the October 2019 CPA examinations. Thereafter, beginning on the May 2020 CPA examination, only the new provisions will be covered and included in such examination.
