In 1993, Abet Guidaben from University of San Jose-Recoletos achieved a milestone in PBA history by becoming the second player to amass over 15,000 points.

He entered this exclusive club alongside another league trailblazer, Ramon Fernandez from University of San Carlos.

Hailing from Camiguin Island, Guidaben reached this landmark during a match between Seven-Up and San Miguel Beer in the PBA Season 19 Commissioner’s Cup. Despite his achievement, his team, the Uncolas, was defeated 98-90 by the Beermen.

Expressing his gratitude, Guidaben remarked, “I thank the Lord for giving me the strength to play this long in the PBA.” This achievement almost coincided with his 41st birthday on September 14 of the same year.

Along with Fernandez and Robert Jaworski from University of the East, Guidaben was one of the few players still active in Season 19 who had also played in the league’s first season in 1975.

Fernandez had previously entered the 15,000-point club on August 31, 1989, during a game between San Miguel Beer and Purefoods.

In later years, Alvin Patrimonio from Mapúa University would also join this prestigious group.
