With the goal of shaping purposeful, accountable, and service-driven student leaders from different colleges and organizations of the University, the Tarlac Agricultural University-Supreme Student Council (TAU-SSC) spearheaded a two-day Leaderโs Summit 2025 under the theme โFrom Potential to Purpose: Empowering Student Leaders to Transform Vision into Action and Leadership into Legacyโ from 28-29 October.
The activity started with plenary sessions on day one, focusing on the essence of leadership rooted in accountability, purpose, and lifelong service. Participants explored topics on rediscovering leadership identity, reflecting on personal growth, and cultivating a deeper commitment to their roles as student leaders of TAU. Parallel discussions were also tailored in the afternoon sessions to enhance the competencies of the attendees in governance, documentation, partnership building, financial management, gender inclusivity, and digital literacy.
Seasoned speakers and well-known individuals including Senator Francis โKikoโ N. Pangilinan; Hon. Renee Co, Representative of the Kabataan Partylist; Hon. Francis Ponce Candelario, Vice Mayor of Santa Ignacia; Mx. Krista Mae M. Angeles, Representative of the Natatanging PYAP of Region III; Hon. Jethro M. Jimenez, former TAU-SSC President; Hon. Kristan James G. Cornel, Central Luzon State University (CLSU) - University Supreme Student Council (USSC) Vice Chairperson; Mr. Melchor Plopiรฑo Oquindo, Partnership Resource Speaker; Ms. Arly Ann O. Patague, faculty member from the College of Business and Management (CBM); Mr. Sonny A. Santos, University Board Secretary and Ayala Young Leader; Ms. Jedhsa Romelyn G. Buayan, representative from the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM); Mr. Nelmar A. Mallari, Chief of the Information Unit (IU); and Ms. Erika R. Prado, TAU-SSC and TAU-Bulalayaw Adviser delivered insightful talks and engaging discussions that inspired delegates to rediscover their leadership purpose and develop practical skills for effective governance.
In addition, participants also engaged in team buildings activities and socialization night.
โBeing invited to this kind of student leader gathering was truly a wonderful moment for us student leaders. It helped us navigate the true essence of leadership and the heart of serviceโallowing us to deepen our understanding and commitment to being role models who lead with transparency and accountability. Through this summit, we were inspired to continue striving for positive change, as we are not merely recipients of change but are tasked to be changemakers who uphold the values that define true servant leadership,โ Jhon Orly S. Batad, Officer from the College of Education (CEd) Student Council, stated.
Meanwhile, TAU-SSC President Ms. Sean Nicole Chico shared, โMy realization is that student leaders didnโt just attend out of obligation, they came eager to learn, gain, and have fun from the summit. I also recognized the value of including even more students, kahit non-leader, to discover themselves in the service of others.โ
Through this summit, TAU continues to foster strong leadership that transcends positions that are grounded in accountability, collaboration, and service to the university and the community.
