College of Radiologic Technology - UPHSD Calamba

The Radiologic Technology Department conducted the final day of its Curriculum-Based Student Enrichment Seminar on April 17, 2026, equipping first- to fourth-year students with enhanced knowledge and review discussions on Radiation Biology and Film Screen Image Acquisition, Processing, and Image Analysis essential to their future profession.

Guest speaker Mr. Meynard Y. Castro, RRT, MSRT, delivered a discussion on Radiation Biology, emphasizing the significance of understanding the biological effects and dose-response relationship of radiation in the medical field. The seminar strengthened the students’ awareness of radiation safety, patient care, and the responsibilities carried by future radiologic technologists in clinical practice.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ysmael O. Alip, RRT, MMHoA, discussed Film Screen Image Acquisition, Processing, and Image Analysis, highlighting the proper step-by-step procedures performed in the operating and dark room areas of Radiologic Technology. His discussion provided students with a clearer understanding of image production, film handling, and the importance of accuracy and quality in radiographic imaging.

The seminar concluded with students gaining valuable insights and strengthened familiarity with essential radiologic concepts, further preparing them for academic advancement and future professional practice in the field of Radiologic Technology.

The College of Radiologic Technology commenced the Curriculum-Based Student Enrichment Seminar for first to fourth year students on March 27 at the University’s Amphitheater, in line with the program’s goal to strengthen students’ knowledge in major courses.

Marking the first day of the seminar, Dr. Manuel De Los Santos spearheaded a two-part discussion on Radiographic Anatomy and Physiology, thoroughly tackling the 11 major systems of the human body, their structures and functions, physiological processes, and the imaging modalities used in identifying pathologies within each system.

To assess the students’ understanding and retention of the discussed concepts, quizzes were given after each discussion, and the seminar concluded with a photo opportunity with the esteemed guest speaker.

The 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘂𝗺-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 continues this 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, at the 𝗘𝗠𝗖. To elevate the caliber of our students’ learning experience, we are thrilled to welcome two distinguished National Review Lecturers from the forefront of Radiologic Technology.

Starting with 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼, 𝗥𝗥𝗧, 𝗠𝗦𝗥𝗧, who will guide us through the complexities of 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆. He will guide us through the complex dose-response of professional growth, ensuring our students' learning curves remain linear and non-threshold, where every bit of exposure to knowledge results in a direct increase in their future success.

Following him, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗬𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗢. 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗽, 𝗥𝗥𝗧, 𝗠𝗠𝗛𝗼𝗔, will step into the light to manifest the intricate art of 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀. He is set to demonstrate that our field is a delicate practice between rigorous science and meticulous art, where the invisible dedication of a student is developed into a visible masterpiece of expertise.
