ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal โ Demonstrating the convergence of employment generation and educational support, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Rizal Provincial Office joined the simultaneous kick-off activities of Brigada Eskwela in six public schools across the city on June 1, in line with Labor and Employment Secretary Francis Tolentinoโs directive to mobilize Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries in preparation for the opening of classes on June 8.
A total of 20 TUPAD workers were deployed in each participating school and will render ten days of work to assist in various Brigada Eskwela activities aimed at ensuring that learning facilities are safe, clean, and conducive for students returning to school.
The participating schools include Antipolo National High School, Sta. Cruz Elementary School, Bagong Nayon I Elementary School, Juan Sumulong Elementary School, San Jose National High School, and Bagong Nayon II Elementary School.
DOLE Rizal attended the simultaneous kick-off programs led by Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Victoria B. Natanauan and TUPAD Focal Person Kristielle Joy C. Maglabe, together with school officials, local government representatives, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders.
Throughout the ten-day implementation period, TUPAD beneficiaries will assist in repainting classrooms and school facilities, cleaning school grounds, clearing vegetation, repairing and refurbishing school furniture, organizing learning spaces, beautifying school premises, and undertaking other maintenance activities identified by school administrators.
The initiative forms part of Secretary Tolentinoโs effort to maximize the impact of TUPAD by providing temporary employment opportunities while supporting priority government programs. By integrating TUPAD into Brigada Eskwela, disadvantaged and displaced workers are able to earn income while contributing to the improvement of public schools before the start of classes.
School officials welcomed the deployment of TUPAD workers, noting that the additional manpower will significantly help accelerate school preparation activities ahead of the June 8 opening of classes.
As schools across Rizal finalize preparations for the incoming school year, the partnership between DOLE and the Department of Education underscores the government's commitment to both education and employment, ensuring that schools are ready to receive students while providing meaningful work opportunities to members of the community. | via CBaisa
