These two design styles may sound altogether the same for most people. But contrary to common knowledge, these two are very different in their design ideas.

Here's the difference:

Modern Design - is a mix of Industrial Chic & Mid-Century Modern Design. Contrary to its name, it's means designs are from the distant past. It is once popular early to mid 20th century. It is sleek, simple, emphasizes on forms and neutral colors. Geometric patterns and colorful accents are most common in this kind of design style.

Contemporary Design - is all about the "Here and Now". Anything that is trending is considered a contemporary design style. Its a mix of minimalism and modernism. Wood, stone, cork; these are all regular in this kind of style. White walls and monochromatic makes the room bigger, expansive, and open.
