Kookie was diagnosed with Anemia that developed from the parasitic blood infection caused by ticks.

Last May 25 he’s been coughing and gagging, so I assumed it was kennel cough so I gave him water with honey which was actually effective.

May 27, I brought him to the vet for his quarterly bravecto treatment and check up.

The vet did various tests to know the cause of coughing:
Canine Distemper - Negative
CBC - this was when we found out Kookie is anemic due to blood parasites, we checked the cause of blood parasites - ticks.
Platelets, WBC, RBC dropped from the normal range.

Kookie never had ticks, we always made sure his surroundings were clean. We traced how the tick was able to make contact with him. His CBC last Feb was A-ok, so how and when?

It was when he was scheduled to get Bravecto on March 19 but we were only able to bring him to his vet on April 2. That’s how and when. Within 13 days 😢
