EDSA AT 40: FOUR DECADES OF COMMEMORATING THE 1986 PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION

Today, we commemorate the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution—a defining moment in our nation’s history that peacefully ended dictatorship and restored democracy in our country through the courage, unity, and determination of millions of Filipinos.

As we reflect on four decades since EDSA, we are reminded that democracy is not a gift handed down to us—it is a responsibility we must continually uphold. It calls on each of us to defend and strengthen it through genuine unity, patriotism, vigilance, and accountability. People power endures because the true power of a nation resides in its people.

We honor the thousands of heroes—known and unknown—who sacrificed comfort, security, and even their lives to fight for freedom, justice, and human rights. Their bravery ensured that future generations would inherit a society not bound by oppression, but guided by democratic ideals.

In a time when our nation faces deliberate historical revisionism, distortion of facts, and widespread disinformation, the spirit of the 1986 People Power Revolution urges us to remain critical, discerning, and steadfast in protecting our liberties. May we continue to safeguard our country’s dignity against any form of tyranny.

Let us always remember the words of philosopher George Santayana: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

DAY 1 | Capacity Development Training 2025
Theme: YOUTHnited: Paglinang ng Bisyon at Diwa ng Kabataang Aurora!

The Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) together with the Aurora Youth Development Council (AYDC) officially launched Day 1 of the Capacity Development Training 2025, bringing together youth leaders from across the province for a day filled with engagement, alignment, and renewed commitment to youth empowerment.

The program began with participant registration, followed by a meaningful recap and updating of the AYDC Mission and Vision—ensuring that the council’s direction remains responsive to the evolving needs and aspirations of the Auroran youth. A comprehensive discussion of AYDC and PYDO accomplishments further highlighted the progress, milestones, and continuing efforts to strengthen youth participation in governance.

As part of the day’s activities, the delegation also made a courtesy call to Mayor Aurora Taay of Dingalan, who expressed her support for sustained youth development initiatives and encouraged the participants to remain proactive partners in community-building.

With collaboration, purpose, and strengthened unity at the forefront, the training energized the participants for the days ahead—fostering empowered, visionary, and service-driven youth leaders for Aurora. 🌟
