The BS Social Work Program of the University of Negros Occidental โ Recoletos, Inc. (UNO-R, Inc.), a cradle of excellence and evangelization, conducted its Field Instruction Pinning and Commissioning Ceremony on June 3, 2026, 9:00 am, at the University Auditorium.
The ceremony marked the formal transition of social work students into their field instruction phase, signifying their readiness to engage in supervised professional practice in partner agencies and communities. Through the pinning and commissioning rites, the interns were recognized and entrusted with the responsibility of applying social work knowledge, values, and skills in actual field settings.
Anchored on the theme, โExcellentia Ministerio Ducta: Forming Champions for Transformative Social Work,โ the event highlighted the programโs commitment to forming competent, ethical, and service-driven social workers dedicated to advancing social justice, human dignity, and holistic well-being.

This coming June 3, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, thirty-four (34) third-year Social Work students will take a significant step in their academic and professional journey as they will be officially pinned and vested, marking their transition into Social Work Interns during the 1st Field Instruction Commissioning Ceremony.
With the theme โ๐๐ฑ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ข๐จ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐: ๐
๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค,โ this momentous occasion will celebrate the students' dedication, preparedness, and commitment to the values and principles of the social work profession.

Community Organizing (Field Instruction III) Culmination at Purok Hervias II
The Community Organizing initiative at Purok Hervias II, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City has officially concluded after months of engagement and collaboration with the community.
Since February, social work students worked closely with residents, especially the mothers, through sessions on Disaster Risk Reduction Preparedness and Solid Waste Management aimed at strengthening awareness, resilience, and community participation. The project ended with a clean-up drive and turnover of cleaning materials as a continuation of environmental efforts in the area.
This initiative was made possible through the support of Barangay Villamonte led by Hon. Rommel Flores and Hon. Lalaine Catalan Agsam, Purok President Mr. Rene Laรฑojan, and the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), along with the assistance of Cong. Albee Benitez, Hon. Greg G. Gasataya, Abang Lingkod Partylist, Felix G. Yusay Foundation Inc., and the Philippine Air Force under 2LT Ron Victor E. Llavanes. Appreciation is also extended to Riverside Medical Center, Inc., resource speakers Mr. Eriberto Duatin and Sir Dustin Veridiano, and the UNO-R Social Work Program headed by Sir Aaron Kim M. Gil, with Ms. Janet Villanueva and Ms. Mabel Gonzales, together with supervisor Ms. Charmaine M. Viloria.
Most importantly, heartfelt thanks go to the Kasanag Hervias Community of Mothers for their active participation and commitment, which made the entire journey meaningful and successful.

The recognized exemplary social work students for their outstanding performance in Field Instruction during the recently held 9th Social Work Night at O'Hotel, May 23, 2026. Awarded as Best Field Instruction Student in Casework was Kathlen Kaye Arguilles, while Jobeth Adara Escandara received the recognition for Groupwork. Meanwhile, Julian Mae Bico was awarded as Best Field Instruction Student in Community Organizing.
The recognition highlighted the studentsโ dedication, competence, and commitment in applying social work knowledge, values, and skills during their field placement experiences. Their achievements reflected the programโs continued commitment to developing future social workers who are grounded in service, leadership, and community engagement.
The announcement of the Outstanding Field Instruction Student of the Year will take place this June during the Recognition of Graduates with Awards.

The UNO-R Social Work Program gathered students, faculty members, alumni, and agency partners for the celebration of its 9th Social Work Night held at O'Hotel, May 23, 2026.
The event became a night of recognition, laughter, and shared memories as social work students celebrated the milestones, challenges, and experiences they encountered throughout their academic journey. Dressed elegantly and filled with excitement, the students enjoyed an evening that reflected not only friendship and camaraderie, but also the values and spirit of the social work profession.
The program also highlighted the perseverance of the graduating students who are now preparing to take their next step beyond the university. More than a formal gathering, the celebration served as a reminder that every struggle, sacrifice, and lesson learned inside and outside the classroom helped shape future social workers committed to service and compassion.

May 21, 2026 | UNO-R Social Work Program, DSWD NIR ink partnership for Field Instruction opportunities
The UNO-R Social Work Program has formally entered into a partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Negros Island Region through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration in expanding opportunities for field instruction in the region.
The MOA signing was witnessed by Dr. Jade Snow C. Dionzon, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Mr. Aaron Kim Gil, RSW, MSW, Social Work Program Head, representing UNO-R Religious Administrators. Representing DSWD Negros Island Region were Regional Director Mr. Arwin O. Razo and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Ms. Aileen Cuevas.
The partnership is expected to enhance academic agency collaboration and provide more meaningful field exposure for social work students, supporting the development of competent, ethical, and community oriented future social workers in the Negros Island Region.

Through peer nominations, votes casted, and qualifying criteria, three Field Instruction students have been identified for outstanding performance in Casework, Groupwork, and Community Organizing. Who are these deserving FI students? The unveiling happens on Saturday, May 23, 2026, 6:00 PM at O'Hotel, Bacolod City.
