FAQs:

Q: Will it damage or shorten the life of the LED?
A: The light operates with 4x Alkaline AA in series totaling at 6v, assuming fresh batteries. 18650 in parallel runs only at 4.2v fully charged which should place a lighter load on the voltage regulator module of the light. This part has been in testing for more than 2 years with no negative feedback from testers so far.

Q: Since it runs on 4.2v rather than 6v wont it affect lumen output?
A: The flashlight regulates any incoming voltage to about 3v so using 4.2v will not affect lumen output unless the battery is nearly depleted. See burn test for comparison

Q: How long is the run time of 2x 18650?
A: Depends on battery capacity, quality, age etc. Your mileage will vary. 18650 used in the video are two 3 year old 3500mah Keeppower.

Q: Will the light overheat?
A: Normal operating temperature observed during the whole 12 hour burn test.

Q: Can I use only 1 battery?
A: Yes. It is in parallel configuration. Two batteries will only double the run time and will not affect lumen output.

Q: What size do I need?
A: Measure the length of the 18650 or indicate if its unprotected/protected cell.

Q: Is this a Streamlight original product?
A: No. This is a 3d printed part designed, printed and assembled by me. However Streamlight has released the Survivor X which accepts 18650 batteries.

Q: What material is it made of?
A: This is printed using PETG

Q: Will it work on older incandescent Survivor?
A: Not recommended as incandescent do not have cut off voltage and may discharge 18650 cells way below safe discharge levels.

Q: Will it work on Survivor X?
A: No. Survivor X battery carriage are of a different shape than the non X variant.
