Assistant Secretary Janir Datukan delivered a strong message of support to a massive audience of educators today, asserting that the Department of Educationโs (DepEd) latest reform policies are designed specifically to ease the burden on the frontline.
Breaking away from the traditional "cascading" model of training, top officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office arrived in Soccsksargen today to personally orient over 7,000 educators on the latest Learning Systems Reform Policies.
The event, held at the Lagao Gymnasium, saw a massive turnout of 4,000 teachers from Sarangani and General Santos City, while an additional 3,000 educators participated in via organized "watch parties" on a live stream.
During the session, Assistant Secretary Janir Datukan addressed the primary concern of the teaching force: administrative exhaustion. He emphasized that these reforms are not just another set of rules, but a toolkit for workload reduction.
The orientation focuses on several key pillars, which are designed to streamline school operations, as explained by Director IV from the Bureau of Learning Delivery Gerson Marvin M. Abesamis, including:
A shift aimed at protecting instructional time and providing a more "humane" pace for both students and teachers.
A move to clarify and shorten lesson design, directly addressing the "administrative burden" of excessive paperwork.
A stronger focus on student feedback and teacher reflection rather than purely clerical data entry.
A curriculum shift emphasizing learner agency and diversified, substantial off-campus experiential learning.

Strengthening learning continuity and ensuring support for learners at risk of dropping out through context-aware experiences.
