Afonso Maccaglia Architecture (2012-2014) was an international practice focused on architecture, urbanism and interior design. A great part of our work was focused on educational projects with a strong social component, helping to improve the physical conditions in which many people and communities inhabit, mainly in poor and underdeveloped areas, amongst which Chuquibambilla High School, winning

Paulo Afonso (1982.Ponte de Lima, Portugal) is graduated in architecture from the Architecture Department of Coimbra’s University (Portugal), with the thesis "Urban Project in Pre-Industrial City Centers", having also attended NTNU (Trondheim, Norway). Since 2009 he has collaborated with several architecture studios alongside some independent work, amongst which OAB - Carlos Ferrater Partnership (Barcelona, Spain). In 2012, he co-founded AMA – Afonso Maccaglia Architecture where, until 2014, they have mainly developed educational projects in remote areas in the Peruvian central jungle, amongst which Chuquibambilla High School, winning project of the Second Award in World Habitat and Social Development in Quito Biennial 2014. He is currently residing and working in Portugal. Marta Maccaglia (1983, Italy), graduated in architecture from the University of Rome La Sapienza, specialized in Museography and interior design, started her professional experience in 2009, collaborating with leading architectural firms as SIC Studio (Madrid), Carlos OAB Ferrater Partnership (Barcelona) and Vicca Verde (Lima). Since 2011, she has been working in international cooperation projects in Peru with NGOs. In 2011 designed and directed the construction of the nursery "Niños Esperanza" in Huaycan, slum on the outsides of Lima. In 2012 she was co-fundator of AMA-AfonsoMaccaglia Architecture until 2014, she worked in developing educational projects in the Peruvian Jungle, amongst which Chuquibambilla High School, winning project of the Second World Habitat Award and social development in Quito Biennial 2014. In 2014 she founded the nonprofit Association "Semillas", which is currently director.
