Yesterday was the entrance of Corpus Christi in Cusco. Devotees carry the saints and virgins from churches around the city to the main Cathedral. Last night, the images will rest inside the Cathedral, and today is the main day of Corpus Christi, when they will be carried in a grand procession around the main square.After the procession, the saints and virgins will return to the Cathedral, where they will remain for seven nights. On the eighth day, they return to their respective churches.Today is a public holiday for some institutions, and it’s also the day when many people will enjoy the traditional Chiriuchu, a special dish only eaten during this celebration.
