☀️ This is how Inti Raymi is celebrated in June
Every June 24th, Cusco revives its Inca spirit with Inti Raymi, the most important ceremony of the ancient Tahuantinsuyu: the Festival of the Sun. 🌞
✨ This ancient celebration honors the god Inti, source of life and energy, and marks the winter solstice in the Andes. Today, Inti Raymi is represented with a spectacular staging that spans three key locations:
🏛️ Qorikancha – The beginning. The Inca greets the sun in the Temple of the Sun, before hundreds of people.
🏰 Plaza de Armas – The meeting. The four regions of the empire are presented, and the Inca receives offerings from each.
🧱 Sacsayhuamán – The central ritual. More than 600 actors recreate the symbolic sacrifice of a llama, sacred dances, and the Inca's speech.
🎶 Andean music, traditional costumes, ceremonial Quechua, and thousands of attendees make Inti Raymi a unique and unforgettable experience.
💬 If you're going to Cusco in June, don't miss it!
