Out on the Shelves may technically be over, but we have extended the deadline for our Rainbow Storytelling Competition to midnight this Sunday July 5th!

Our Rainbow Storytelling Competition is an amazing opportunity for young rainbow, takatāpui and MVPFAFF+ storytellers (27 and under) across Aotearoa to platform their work (and also be in to win some great prizes!)

This year’s prizes on offer include a huge range of Rainbow Books thanks to our friends at Te Herenga Waka University press, The Children's Bookshop, Agnes & Edie and Utu ā Matimati as well as vouchers and InsideOUT merchandise!

To reflect the diverse ways we share stories with each other in Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, our storytelling competition accepts creative work in a range of formats and mediums, including text, audio, graphics and video.

Age categories:
💜 Under 16
💜 16 – 20
💜 20- 27

Storytelling categories:
💜 Open (e.g. short stories, essays, comics, zines, waiata)
💜 Poetry (e.g. written, spoken-word)

Rainbow Māori and Pacific storytellers may also opt to have their work considered for the Māori and Pacific award category.
