A few months ago 300 of you fine people out there came to see The Brant Bjork Trio and support bands smash out a Sunday Session for the ages at The Raglan Pub.
It’s certainly one of the finest gigs myself and my partner in grime in bend gigs Pic have ever been associated with.
Feedback was everyone there knew they had been sta very special gig .
Mario Lardelli was Brant’s right hand man on that gig /tour and is one of the absolute figureheads behind The Desert /Stoner Rock movement that Kyuss/Fu Manchu birthed and has subsequently gone global .
This Sunday sees 2 colossal bands from these genres play The Raglan Pub .
It’s a double headliner with Yawning Man and The Rubber Snake Charmers feat Sean Wheeler .
Mario is in both bands .
Here’s a review of Rubber Snake Charmers feat Sean Wheeler show in 2022 by Simon Coffey aka Sicoff

The crowd surges forward, a few fool hardy souls right up to the barrier (if only they had known) as the band starts. Sean Wheeler crouches, psyching himself at the back of the stage, and then the sermon begins. Mario, Brant and Ryan work together to creating an uninterrupted sonic bed of psych, desert rock, jazz and punk, that mesmerises, hypnotises even, the congregation. The most respected and most infamous punk rock singer many have never heard of, enters the pulpit, like a giant of a front-man, like an orator in a Shakespearean play, or maybe a Southern Baptist Preacher, the sort that travel town to town prophesying in carnival tent.

SeanWheeler croucnes, psyching himself at the back of the stage bible ln his hand, speaks in his tongues and dominates the stage, occasional thrusting towards his flock to reinforce a verse, or to give a chosen few his personal blessing, a kiss on the forehead. As the music makers behind him create enveloping sonic waves that rise and fall, Sean Wheeler tears off and offers pages from his book of poems, and passes them to the flock .

Yea boy!!

So 2 hell bands at the forefront of the Desert /Stoner Rock movement headlining .playing TheRaglan Hotel this Sunday .
Looks like lightning does strike twice .

By my estimates 85,000 people paid top dollar last week to see MetallicaToolPixies in the last 7 days .

Hopefully there’s a few dollars left for our own triple international extravaganza of Ozzie’s C.O.F.F.I.N and Americans Toody Cole Band and Jenny Don’t and The Spurs at The Raglan Pub this Friday
To put in perspective .
For less than a price of a Metallica baby bib and onesie (Not including possible future trauma therapy for the little b # # # # # ) you can get a ticket to Jenny -Toody -C.O.F.F.I.N .
You will still have enough change to buy a Pastor Of Muppets beer( while stocks last.)
So do the math and hopefully that stops a few of you gentlemen panicking about having to go down the gobbie path at The RSA to get your Rock n Roll fix this week .

So the summarise
Co-founder of absolute legends of Portland, Oregon's garage punk underground Dead Moon, with husband Fred Cole (RIP) and drummer Andrew Loomis (RIP), Toody Cole is returning to Aotearoa New Zealand with Her Band to rock the foundaf this wasn't already a major announcement in itself, they'll be joined for all dates by fellow guitar-slinging Portlanders Jenny Don’t & The Spurs, plus Aussie raw rockers C.O.F.F.I.N at the aforementioned Harbour View Hotel .
C.O.F.F.I.N ripped the Raglan Pub a new one back in February on their tour supporting Amyl and the Sniffers in a gig that will be remembered by all lucky enough to be there.
Locals Illicit Wah-Wahz and VickiNoMates complete the massive line up .

Toody Cole has deep links to New Zealand rock ‘n’ roll and Raglan from her and her deceased husband Fred legendary bands Dead Moon and Pierced Arrow.

This will be her second last show ever in New Zealand.

C.O.F.F.I.N played in Raglan in February and delivered one of the wildest rock ‘n’ roll shows myself or those lucky to have been there have ever experienced .

They are in NZ for the weekend and they chose the Pub to be their only gig outside of a festival on The Saturday.

Jenny don’t and The Spurs are repeat visitors to New Zealand (first time in Raglan)
Their “cow punk “sound will fit perfectly with the other Bands.
Throw in locals Vicki No Mates and Illicit Wah-Wahz and you have a night for the ages.

The videos below are the start of the C.O.F.F.I.N at the Pub back in February and The Toody Cole band playing to a packed Tote bar in Melbourne on Saturday just gone .
This is a gig for the ages and I hope as many of you come out to support because without you these gigs won’t happen .

Anyone lucky enough to be there on the night will never forget C.O.F.F.I.N s debut at The Raglan Pub earlier this year. “Hello ..We’re happy to be here . We’re C.O.F.F.I.N. Get Rowdy. Take care of each other. And have a Fkn good night!” Friday Nov 28th C.O.F.F.I.N return to the pub as part of a 3 headlining band show with Raglan support . The Toody Cole band will be showcasing this legendary musicians history as part of Dead Moon and Pierced Arrow in this ger final trip to NZ . Portland S Country Punks Jenny Don’t + the Spurs are also unmissable .Throw in locals Illicit Wah-Wahz and Vicki No Mates and you have as greater night of Rock n Roll that you can think of .
