When I decided to became a hairdresser at 14 it was because I believed hairdressers were Rockstars. I was a severely overweight kid that had no friends didnβt fit and and felt lost. When I visited the salon every week with my Mum and felt the energy of the salon watched hairdressers perform their magic and the women leaving transformed I knew I wanted in. The transformations I witnessed werenβt because of a haircut or colour they were from seeing a shift in the clients attitude of themselves an acknowledgment that they felt beautiful and that change was because of a hairdresser. When I started my apprenticeship by making others feel better I felt better, and I totally fell in love.
My job as a hairdresser has always been to be of service and empowerment whether I am working on clients, teaching a class or taking over.
This profession has given me the greatest gifts and I am humbled and grateful. I believe the only way to succeed is to help others succeed the only way to grow is to enable others to grow and the only way to be empowered is to empower.
PS: And I still believe hairdressers are Rockstars.
