Benza has been somewhat of an ambassador for SR Solutions over the years, coming to our quarterly catch ups/events, being part of our group chat with the team, and being a sounding board for Shane & Matt when we need to vent or talk out loud; he has also been a good friend of theirs for many years now.

The photos below are from Benza’s (wearing warriors top) first day of his new job with Te tai Awa o te Ora Trust where he is now working as a Youth worker, working with our youth in Otara. This day was special as Benza was able to invite his family to his first day of work where we were able to meet his new team and learn about the company all via a powhiri, speeches and food. Shane was privileged to be invited and share this day with Benza alongside his family.

Benza has lived his entire life with a disability (Hemiplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy) and the way he has learned to not just manage living with a disability, but thrive in life, is an inspiration to all (see links below) - he has represented NZ at the paralympics in shotput, played Rugby League for NZ and is a talented musician in many facets, singing, rapping, beat making and a gun harmonica player.

The youth of Otara and Te tai Awa have one of the best humans in their circle now and there is no doubt they’ll be reaping the benefits from Benza’s hard work, personality and drive in no time!
