Tallest wedding cake that we’ve done here at .co.nz in collaboration with almost a year ago!!!

Delivering this cake exciting and terrifying in equal measure! Exciting because you get to present the creation you have been working so hard on to the world…and terrifying because you have to get it there in one piece! Knowing exactly that you need to travel from Wellington to Waiheke Island.

First time travelling a cake this far is a little scary as you need to book a plane and a ferry and do some heavy lifting. The venue even has uneven brick steps to add on to our anxiety. Whew 😮‍💨

All the worry is totally worth it though when you get to see the final creation all set up - and in such a beautiful setting too!

Pearl cakes are not for the weak!

Every piece of pearl baubles sprinkles are applied one by one by hand. I start by separating my pearl mix into the big/medium pearls and the super small ones.

For the super small pearls, l use a heat gun to slightly warm the exterior of the completely refrigerated cake. I then take small handfuls and throw them at the places I want them.

For the medium and big pearls, I apply each by hand with the use of tweezer like sprinkle applying tool from being careful to position them so that the pearl attaches to the cake without my fingers making contact with the buttercream.

That’s why in every cake piece we do, we need a minimum of 3 weeks to prepare. Understanding the time it takes to add all the details together. We treat every piece as our own art piece work and hopefully exceeds our clients expectations.
