🍎 Celebrating the Future of Hawke’s Bay Horticulture 🍎

Last week, AgFirst was proud to host a judging station at the 2026 Hawke’s Bay Young Fruitgrower Competition.

Contestants were challenged with a real-world orchard scenario involving missing trees, requiring them to identify the causes, quantify the production and profitability impacts, and develop practical management strategies to improve future performance.

It was fantastic to see competitors demonstrate not only strong horticultural knowledge but also a clear understanding of the financial implications of orchard management decisions. The calibre of talent on display was exceptional.

A huge congratulations to all eight finalists for their dedication, professionalism, and passion for the industry.

🏆 Special congratulations to Maddi Sheridan from T&G Global, who was crowned 2026 Hawke’s Bay Young Fruitgrower of the Year. We wish Maddi every success as she goes on to represent Hawke’s Bay at the national finals.
