His parents’ CD collection was formative of Luke’s musical background. Before ever holding one, he was always fascinated with the guitar, and his first felt natural in his hands. Even as a child, music was transcendental and inspirational. Today, Luke records music and plays live to hopefully make others feel something too. Jenna was singing, songwriting, and performing regularly as a child. Since her teens, she has taken her voice around New Zealand on tour and celebrated her roots in a Māori kapa-haka (performing arts) groups. She’s been writing songs that move people ever since. Today, the two challenge each other’s songwriting and compositional conventions to synthesise their distinct styles. With an array of written songs up their sleeves, the duo plan to release their debut EP or album in the summer of 2022/23. With their deft backing band behind them, Bird Machine will bring their live show to audiences in the second half of 2022. Their first release 'A Lot of Love', is about embracing differences as a way of overcoming the polarization and conflict that permeates the globe right now. Layered, syncopated, and laid-back, this genre-fluid jam is a soulful and heartfelt debut. Their next single, ‘Our Kind’, is set for independent release in the first half of 2022.
