Cascades

Residents have had an enjoyable week of sunshine and activities. We were fortunate enough to have Leon Wharekura (from Billy T James band) entertain our residents at happy hour. Many of the songs he sung were from their favourite era with well-known Maori songs included. On Saturday afternoon residents helped decorate vases for a craft activity. Our interactive music group is going well thanks to Cherry and the Music Moves Me Trust.

This week residents have enjoyed the usual week of planned activities, including Presbyterian Church Service, a visit to Freedom Church for an old time movie and luncheon and a combined Birthday celebration with a sing-a-long and birthday cake. On Saturday we were privileged to have the Waikato Chorale Singers who performed to a group of nearly fifty residents. A great way to finish the week.

Residents and staff are wrapping up warmly and continuing to be involved in the weekly happenings at Cascades Retirement Resort. We have had a busy couple of weeks with activities including our yearly quiz night.

Residents continue to take advantage of the selection of activities provided here at the Cascades. Wet, cold weather has seen the activities program change slightly with a focus on indoor activities. Residents do continue to make use of the shopping shuttles and weekly scenic van outings - weather permitting. Pictured are residents joining in with a group of children from Ashurst Park Playcentre who spent the morning entertaining us. There were smiles all around. Also pictured are the “Rose’s Restored” beauty therapists demonstrating the services that are available onsite.
