Craig Lord - Between Chapters

Oddly enough, Mr Brown's latest interview where he found the need to state "welcomed the defeat of two-time mayoral candidate and keyboard warrior Craig Lord" has given me solace.

For him to make the mention shows he was genuinely scared of having people that wouldn't bow down to him.

I feel at bit more at peace knowing I was in his head.

Anyway, I doubt the 'Super Saturday' votes will be enough to make a positional change, although how p**s funny would it be to see his face if....

I'll share the final numbers once they appear.

When the turnout is so low, the split vote becomes more prevalent.
Looking at multiple area results, it’s happened to many.

In 2022 the Whau only had 2 candidates, this time we had 6.

Greens took 1300 off Labour, and Davie/Luxton took a potential 2500 off me.

Whilst it’s a relevant factor, I can’t use it as an excuse. It’s a known fact that a Labour candidate in this red Ward will get votes by brand alone, so I simply needed to do a better job of convincing people to vote as a counter to that.

Shoulda, coulda, didn’t.

It’ll vary a little bit on Monday but unless there’s some bizarre miracle I really can’t see it making any positional changes.

Anyway, it’s interesting to analyse, and whilst i have very mixed emotions about it - sad for the result, angry that people don’t vote - I’m still reasonably healthy, I’ve got a perfect wife, a Triumph Motorcycle and Bathurst will still be happening. It’s not all bad.

Sorry everyone but at this point the Labour machine has kicked my ass.

Unless it’s very very preliminary, the low voter turnout has handed it to my opponent.

In 2022 there were 8000 votes for each of the 2 candidates- this year it’s bad. Real bad. Our combined hasn’t even reached one of theirs. There are 58,000 voters in Whau.

I’ll wait a little bit longer to see, but so far it’s not a great outcome.

Wayne Brown has won the Mayoral race by a large margin.

Leoni and Johnston did better than I predicted, arguably bagging a fair few anti-brown protest votes.
