We help enterprises get better at it by uplifting their capability across technology, talent and practices, and by organising around products not projects. We have an incredible team of multi-talented, super-skilled thinkers and practitioners who take on the most complex challenges for some of New Zealand’s largest organisations. If that rings true with you, let’s get together some time.

Software teams are shrinking. AI agents are absorbing the work that used to take larger teams to coordinate. What’s emerging is three people and a constellation of agents – the new cross-functional is understanding customer problems, orchestrating agents and validating outcomes. Agents handle the scaling. Humans handle the judgment.

These are skills the best engineers and product managers have always had. What’s changed is that you’re no longer spending 70 percent of your day writing code or waiting days for feedback on working software.

Gareth Evans explores what this means for teams, roles and the organisational structure in our blog… https://hyprinnovation.io/our-thoughts/why-software-teams-are-shrinking-to-three-people

Conversations around AI typically centre on the technology itself such as the impressive models and capabilities. In our work with organisations across different sectors, we’ve learned though that the real question is whether you’re prepared to harness that power effectively.

In our latest HYPRLive, we talked with Brian Lambert, PhD about the gap between AI's potential and organisational readiness – what he calls ‘data drag’ – the friction created by unknown data, inadequate processes and lack of contextual information. “Data behaves like air in most organisations. Nobody truly owns it, everyone complains when it's unavailable, it becomes nobody's priority”.

Meanwhile, employees are incorporating AI tools into their workflows regardless of official policy. The question then is whether you're providing the infrastructure and guidance to make that usage productive and secure.

The organisations succeeding with AI are solving foundational challenges first. They invest in data quality and accessibility, create cultural conditions that reward curiosity and cross-functional collaboration and shift from demanding immediate answers to fostering thoughtful inquiry.

The technology exists. The opportunity is enormous. The question remains whether you're asking the right questions to unlock that potential.

“My team’s code works, but it doesn’t reflect what they actually meant to build”. This is the hidden cost of rushed AI adoption.

Engineers know what they want to create. AI helps them code faster, but somewhere between intent and output, nuance gets lost.

The solution isn’t slower development or abandoning AI but creating time and space for engineers to develop practices that help AI understand and amplify their actual intent.

When did you last see a gap between what your team meant to build and what they actually built?
