"In 1960 the Old Hotel Titirangi was renamed Frank Lopdell House after a former principal of Auckland Teachers College, Superintendent of Education and New Zealand's first director of In-Service training. The building became a residential centre for teachers on week long courses. Thousands of teachers attended Lopdell House courses in the 22 years it was open. In 1982 In-service training transferred to the North Shore. Source: Peter Buffet - Lopdell House and a History of the Hotel Titirangi."
