From infancy on, play is an important part of a child’s life. Simple, playful interactions with adults—whether it’s reading a silly book together, as seen in this video, or a game of peek-a-boo—help develop sturdy brain architecture and the foundations of lifelong health. As children grow, these interactions also provide young children with opportunities to practice skills such as focusing attention, strengthening working memory, and developing self-control.
